Manifesta Colagem is a live artistic intervention that activates collage as both method and performance. Conceived by Manuela Eichner, the project unfolds as a collective process in which visual composition, sound, and bodily presence converge to produce a temporary and evolving environment.
Working with fragments of printed images, textures, and found materials, Eichner constructs compositions in real time, exposing the gestures and decisions that shape the act of collage. The work foregrounds fragmentation, juxtaposition, and recombination as strategies to rethink visual narratives and question established hierarchies of image and meaning.

Accompanied by musicians and performers, the process expands beyond the visual plane, transforming collage into a spatial and sonic experience. Improvisation plays a central role, allowing the work to emerge through dialogue between materials, performers, and the surrounding public.
Presented in the open space beneath Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), the project engages with the architectural and social dynamics of the site. The iconic free-span structure—historically conceived as a democratic public platform—becomes a stage for experimentation, encounter, and collective perception.
By bringing the studio into the public sphere, Manifesta Colagem proposes collage as a critical and poetic practice—one that assembles fragments of imagery, sound, and urban life into new constellations of meaning.

Manuela Eichner
Multifaceted visual artist, educator, and curator. She holds a degree in Sculpture from UFRGS. Originally from Arroio do Tigre/RS, she lives and works between São Paulo and Berlin. Her multifaceted practice encompasses everything from videos and performances to collaborative workshops, as well as the development of illustrations, installations, and murals. In these different areas, she systematically employs principles of collage, rupture, and the scrambling of the spatial, contextual, and semantic unity of images from diverse sources.
Occupying and transforming art spaces through immersive practices, transcending the limits of mediums and expanding formats until they coincide with the entire space, is the strategy used by the artist in her sensory installation proposals. Offering a collective experience challenges the viewer and destabilizes their beliefs about body, space, and nature.
Manuela has participated in a variety of programs worldwide such as Rumos Itaú Cultural in São Paulo (BR), Utropic in Poznań (PL), ZK/U in Berlin (DE), AnnexB and Brooklyn Brush in New York (USA), Fikra Graphic Design Biennial in Sharjah (UAE), IASPIS Residency in Malmö (SE), CND Centre National de la Danse in Paris (FR) and Vão do MASP in São Paulo (BR).
